Urbanization is a mix of problems and prospects. The development process resulted in rapid growth of population followed by unwarranted growth of cities in view of immigration of rural people to cities and towns. Environmental degradation due to the cutting of trees in the name of modernization and increasing density of population have converted cities into problematic areas. The main problems of urbanization are related to industrialization, pollution, slums, heavy traffic, scanty urban facilities, inefficient management of civic services and poverty.
